Interested in getting a kayak, but bewildered by the many choices available?
Want to improve your skills and learn important safety procedures?
We offer classes to suit your needs.
Intermediate class
Beginners class
A. Kayak Selection, including a variety of kayaks to be tried.
B. Equipment selection discussed with examples of PFDs, paddles and basic safety gear.
C. Transporting kayaks – lifting, carrying and car topping.
D. Entering your kayak from low dock or shore
E. Basic strokes: forward, stop, reverse, rotate, and turn while underway.
The beginners class is $50 and includes a coupon for a 1/2 price trip with us.
A. Trip planning: reading charts and tide tables; weather issues.
B. Outfitting for successful day trips.
C. Stroke work: refining the forward stroke, figure 8, draw stroke, rudder, low brace.
D. Rescue and recovery: wet exits and assisted rescues.
The intermediate class is $50 and includes a coupon for a free Tide Riders (paddling club) trip with us.
